I am writing to you and the Trustees of the Lord Wharton Charity to thank you for the 30 bibles provided for our young people.

We have given out the bibles at two events.  And both have been fantastic.

The first event was our farewell to six 18-year old men who were off to uni.  Alongside your bookplates we wrote the following passage from Proverbs 8 as a message

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not disregard it.
34 Blessed are those who listen to me, watching daily at my doors,
    waiting at my doorway.
35 For those who find me find life and receive favour from the Lord.

The second event was our first youth service of the year, we have them once a month.  We ran a session all around whether the bible has relevance today and had a lot of fun with the wisdom of proverbs.  We then presented the youth with bibles and asked them to write a message to their future self alongside the plaque.  They have written very moving things such as

“Dear …. I hope that the bible helps you shape your life and turn you into the best possible version of yourself.  I hope you continue to grow as a Christian and in God’s love”

“Work on your talents not your flaws.  Don’t worry about you life, live it”

“Worrying and stewing over things do not add any hours to your life – I hope, I know you are now in a place where you know this.  Always sing God’s praises”

“I hope that when you pick up this bible it will remind you of how God is always here for you and that he will provide a light in the darkness for you and that you will trust him with whatever is happening in your life”

We will continue to explore how and why we read the bible,

With huge appreciation for your support of our youth in this way
